Walton “Wally” Jones, 75, Shoals

Walton “Wally” Jones, 75, of Shoals, passed away on Tuesday, August 22, 2023, at Sycamore Care Strategies, Loogootee.

Born March 10, 1948, in Washington, he was the son of Richard Woodrow Jones and Irma Jean (Gibbs) Weir and was raised by Oscar and Lucy Belle Abel. 

Wally worked as a truck driver his whole life and owned and operated his own trucking company for several years. 

He is survived by his sons, Michael (Kristy) Jones of Loogootee and John Jones of Montgomery; daughter, Karena Whaley; grandchildren, Christopher (fiance’ Calli Wininger) Jones, Mikenna Jones, Isaiah Jones, Brooklyn Jones, Addison Jones, Johnna (Durham) Anderson, and Jennifer Durham; half-brother, Michael (Gladys) Jones, of Indianapolis; 3 nephews, Adam and Austin Jones, and Jon Daniel Swartzentruber; and brother-in-law, Herbert Swartzentruber.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one sister, Billie Ann Swartzentruber.

The funeral service will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 25, 2023, at the Queen-Lee Chapel of George Funeral Care, with Pastor Kevin Quinn officiating. Burial will be at Spring Hill Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. on Thursday at the Queen-Lee Chapel and Friday from 10 a.m. until the service hour.
