VU Jasper will offer Word and Excel computer training for Spring 2017 semester.
Beginning Microsoft Word will be held 3 Thursdays, February 9, 16, and 23 from 6 to 9 p.m. Fee is $119 and includes text.
Beginning Microsoft Excel will be held 3 Tuesdays, February 14, 21 and 28 from 6 to 9 p.m. Fee is $119 and includes text.
Excel Formulas and Functions will be held Thursday, March 30 from 6 to 9 p.m. Fee is $49.
Excel Tips and Tricks will be held Tuesday, March 14 from 6 to 9 p.m. Fee is $49.
Excel Pivot Tables and Pivot Charts will be held Wednesday, April 5 from 6 to 9 p.m. Fee is $49.
Using Excel Efficiently will be held Thursday, March 2 from 6 to 8 p.m. Fee is $39.
VU Jasper Continuing Education will offer noncredit workshops for personal growth and development.
The 15 Invaluable Laws of Growth will be held on 2 Fridays, March 10 and 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn how to reach their potential through personal growth. This training will help understand how personal growth really works and how to develop one’s self to become a more effective and fulfilled individual. Participants will also learn how to build up a sense of purpose and become more effective in every area of life. Cost is $195 and includes coffee and materials. Instructor is Carol Persohn who is the founder of the Persohn Group and is a certified John Maxwell life coach and teacher. She holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Human Resources Management from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College.
Leadership: Becoming a Person of Influence will be held Friday, February 17 from 8 a.m. to noon. Participants will learn how to positively impact the lives of others and insightful ways to interact more positively with others.

A Beginner’s Guide to Personal Finances will be held 3 Mondays, February 13, 20 and 27 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. This class provides an introduction to personal finance. No products are endorsed or sold in this educational class. Topics covered include:
-Personal finances and budgeting
-Understanding credit and how to build and take care of it. Importance of developing a banking relationship.
-Mortgages and loans
-Insurance (home, auto, health insurance and life)
-Understanding investments & why it is important to save early
-Concept of time, value of money
-Retirement planning
-Employer plans (401K) and individual plans (IRAs)
-Personal savings/investing – stocks, mutual funds, & bonds
Fee is $39. Instructor is Nina Auffart who has experience in corporate benefits, retail banking, loan originator, banking center manager and financial advisor. She holds a M.B.A. from Texas A&M University.
VU Jasper Campus will offer OSHA 10 and 30 Hour safety courses this Spring semester.
The OSHA Safety Courses provides entry level general workers instruction about their rights and employer responsibility under the OSHA requirements.
Training covers a variety of general industry safety and health hazards which the workers may encounter. Class will emphasize hazards identification and control practices of general industry. Designed for people at the entry level that are responsible for supervision, management, safety and the company’s employees.
Upon successful completion of this course participants receive a wallet card from the U.S. Department of Labor Occupational Safety & Health Administration.
The 10-hour course will be held Wednesday & Thursday, March 1, 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and March 2, 8 a.m. to noon. Fee is $195 and includes all materials.
The 30-hour course will be held on 2 Wednesdays. & 2 Thursdays, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. on March 8, 9, 15 and 16. Cost is $350 and includes all materials.
Instructor for both classes is Darwyn Nelson, a Certified OSHA instructor.
