VUJC Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing weeklong dedication next week

300- 2Jasper — The Center for Technology, Innovation and Manufacturing at the Vincennes University Jasper Campus will be dedicated on May 14, 10:00 a.m.(EDT), in ceremonies that will include Indiana Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann. The celebration will continue through the week with special classes and demonstrations of advanced manufacturing techniques.

The building dedication will also feature remarks by VU President Dick Helton and VU Jasper Campus Dean Alan Johnson. The public is invited to tour the facility as well as attend a workshop about basic 3-D printing technologies from 2:00 to 4:00 p.m.

On Wednesday, a workshop on advanced 3-D printing technologies will be held from 9:00-11:00 a.m. A dinner for school administration and employees will be held from 5:30-7:30 p.m. Dr. Vince Bertram, national CEO of Project Lead the Way, will be the keynote speaker for the dinner.

On Thursday, a “War on Waste” workshop will be held from 10:00 a.m. – 12:00 noon. The workshop about wringing waste out of processes in offices and manufacturing is presented by Purdue Technical Assistance Program. From 4:30-6:30 p.m. the Jasper Chamber of Commerce will host a “Time Out from Business” open house.

On Friday, a class on programming mobile apps will be held for high school students at 4:00 p.m.

On Saturday, the facility will be open for a Family Open House from 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. and will include technology activities for elementary and middle school children.
