Volunteer Dubois County website offers free membership for non-profits

Dubois County nonprofit organizations can now join the membership website, www.VolunteerDuboisCounty.com, for free.

According to a press release from the nonprofit organization, Volunteer Dubois County, the goal is to increase the number of organizations using the website. This will give more opportunities to the growing number of volunteers looking for an organization to help.

By listing their nonprofit organization and their volunteer needs on the website, individuals looking to serve will be able to contact those organizations directly.

The site also contains a Community Wish List where nonprofits may seek material donations.

Volunteer Dubois County’s continued goal is to become Dubois County’s most efficient and convenient means of connecting community volunteers with the local nonprofit organizations that need their help. Anyone is invited to get involved by visiting www.volunteerduboiscounty.org.

The website was launched in 2011 and has continued to attract organizations and individuals interested in community endeavors. Organizations were required to pay for their listing on the site but volunteers were not. Volunteer Dubois County found that some organizations had tremendous success in attracting volunteers but other organizations didn’t.

“While an agency’s success is directly correlated to the quality and quantity of postings on the website, Volunteer Dubois County hopes the elimination of the fee will encourage those less successful members to not become discouraged,” Volunteer Dubos County explained in the press release.

The Volunteer Dubois County website continues to increase in usage and popularity by volunteers. According to the organization, to date, the website is responsible for close to 200 inquiries into Dubois County Volunteer opportunities in less than 2 years of the website being active. That figure, however, doesn’t count all the referrals they do through direct volunteer correspondence. Volunteer Dubois County also reaches more than 350 volunteers through newsletters, opportunity alerts, and Facebook posts.
