Volunteer Dubois County hosts info sessions to unveil virtual volunteer center

Local non-profit organization Volunteer Dubois County is returning to the public eye with the launch of its new virtual volunteer center (www.volunteerduboiscounty.org). This database web site is to be a crucial part of VDC’s mission to promote volunteerism in the county and facilitate communication between local volunteers and non-profits needing their services.
Founded by Paige Stradtner in 2009, Volunteer Dubois County partnered with TRI-CAP of Dubois County in 2010 when that organization offered VDC a nine-month contract to further develop the program. During this time, the volunteer center organized roundtable discussions and workshops on volunteerism, published the first-ever Volunteer Opportunities Guide, and successfully referred a considerable number of volunteers to local organizations needing their assistance.
After the term at TRI-CAP, Volunteer Dubois County restructured its program to ensure long-term sustainability. In June of 2011, Vincennes University Jasper Campus and Huntingburg Foundation, Inc. became collaborative administrators with VDC. The organization is currently headed by an all-volunteer board consisting of Paige Stradtner, Susan McGovren, Audra Jahn, Chris Weyer, Larry Feldmeyer, and Josh Belcher. This group works to inspire and mobilize volunteers of Dubois County, goals spearheaded by the launch of the new volunteer center web site.
To begin the introduction of the website to the volunteer community and general public, VDC has begun a campaign of local media advertising and non-profit solicitation. Included in this is an invitation to two information sessions, extended to local volunteers and representatives of non-profit organizations to educate them about the web site and the benefits it offers. During either of these sessions, attendees will get a chance to meet some of the VDC team, learn about the features of the web site, and ask questions about the organization and what it offers.
Both sessions will be held in the auditorium of VUJC’s new classroom building. TheĀ midday session is from 11am to 12pm on Nov. 1st. The evening session is from 6:30pm to 7:30pm on Nov. 3rd.
