Virginia Schroering, 77

Virginia Schroering, age 77 of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 6:05 p.m. on Tuesday, June 03, 2014, at home.

Virginia was born on May 24, 1937 in Jasper, Indiana to Leo and Anna (Seger) Merkel. She married Robert L. Schroering on November 30, 1957 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Jasper, IN. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2009.

Virginia was a homemaker.

She was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and its Ladies Sodality in Jasper, Indiana.

She enjoyed babysitting, quilting, and Ironing.

Virginia is survived by two daughters, Patty Eckert and her husband Bob, and Kathy Schroering, both of Jasper; two grandsons;
Bryan and Jason Eckert; four great-granddaughters, Bailee, Hailey, Olivia, and Allison Eckert, two sisters; Marie Leistner and her husband Gerald, of Evansville, Rosalee Preusz of Jasper; one brother, Cletus Merkel and his wife Millie, of Jasper.

Preceding her in death besides her husband were two brothers, Sylvester Merkel Sr. and Linus Merkel.

Funeral services for Virginia Schroering will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, June 6, 2014, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, IN, with entombment to follow in Fairview Cemetery Mausoleum in Jasper.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. on Thursday, June 5, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper. The Rosary will be prayed at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home by the Ladies Sodality of Precious Blood Church.
