Virginia L. “Deedle” Seger, 88

Virginia L. “Deedle” Seger, age 88, of Dubois passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, October 13, 2013 at Brookside Village in Jasper.

Virginia was born on November 7, 1924 in Dale, Indiana to Alvah North and Florence (Singer) Merry. She married Ralph Seger on November 23, 1946 in St. Joseph Church in Jasper, IN. He preceded her in death on September 3, 2009.

Virginia was a homemaker, and worked as bookkeeper for Hoffman Brothers Auto Dealership and later as a bookkeeper for General Beverage and the Dubois Water Utilities.

She was a member of St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, the Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, The Jasper Circle of the Daughters of Isabella, the Red Hat Ladies Society, and served as the chairman for the March of Dimes in Dubois for several years.

She enjoyed golf, playing cards, watching football, and was an Indiana University and Colts football fan. She was also a fan of Dubois High School Sports.

She is survived by one son, Keith Seger, and his wife Charlotte, of Evansville, IN;  Four grandchildren AND 10 great-grandchildren.

Preceding her in death was her husband Ralph.

Funeral services for Virginia L. “Deedle” Seger will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2013, at St. Raphael’s Catholic Church in Dubois, Indiana, with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

Friends may call from 9:00 until the 11:00 service time on Friday at the church.

In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the St. Raphael’s Catholic Church, the Dubois County Community Foundation, or to a favorite charity.
