Virgil L. Stackman, 90

Virgil L. Stackman, age 90 of Jasper, passed away at 12:24 a.m. Monday (April 23, 2012) in Brookside Village in Jasper.
He was born at South Bend, Indiana on April 25, 1921 to Clarence and Bessie (Cook) Stackman.
He married Madeline Howard March 22, 1942 in Fort Wayne, Indiana. The couple celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary this year.
Virgil was a WWII Army Veteran serving in the South Pacific.
He retired from Crown Cork and Seal Company as a plant manager of manufacturing; (He helped invent aluminum can tab) beginning in 1941 from Fort Wayne, Indiana to Missouri, on to Illinois, Virginia, Maryland, back to Virginia. He retired in Jasper in 1989.
He attended the Christian Church of Jasper and past Elder and Deacon of the First Presbyterian Church also a 50 year Mason member and a lifetime member of Moose International.
He loved Oil painting and an avid Jasper High School baseball fan and IU sports.

Son, Joel Stackman and spouse (Joni) , Greenfield, IN
Six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
One brother, Ralph Stackman, Pennsylvania.
Preceded by two sisters Evelyn and Mardel Stackman and four brothers, Lyle, Lowell, John and Roland Stackman.
Funeral services for Virgil L. Stackman will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday (April 26, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper. The Rev. Darrell Land will officiate. V.F.W. Post # 673 in Jasper will conduct military grave side rites.
Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. Thursday (April 23, 2012) until the 1:00 p.m. service time at the funeral home. BURIAL TO FOLLOW IN SHILOH CEMETERY IN JASPERL
