Violet Hubster, 98, of Huntingburg, Indiana, died peacefully with family in Cincinnati, Ohio on Sunday, October 20, 2013.

She was born in Dubois County, Indiana on June 26, 1915 to John and Matilda (Elshoff) Hanebutt.

She married Grant Hubster on November 17, 1936 at St. John United Church of Christ in Evansville, Indiana.

Violet and Grant were farmers in the Duff Community until they retired. He died on January 16, 1988.

Violet is survived by her children and siblings: two daughters, Phyllis Weisheit of Mansfield, Texas and O. Sue Meyer of Cincinnati, Ohio; one son, Steve Hubster of Huntingburg, IN; and two brothers, Palmer (Norma) Hanebutt and Ben Hanebutt both of Evansville, IN. Violet has eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. One grandchild preceded her in death.

As a lifelong member of Salem United Church of Christ in Huntingburg, Violet took a very active role in all activities including the Salem Quilters’ Circle, Women’s Guild and bible studies, and having served on the Church Council.

Violet was the last surviving charter member of the Friendly Neighbors Extension Homemakers Club which was organized in 1938 in the Duff Community.

She volunteered for many years at the Huntingburg Distribution Center, now known as “Shared Abundance”. As hobbies, Violet enjoyed quilting, cooking and playing cards. She had spent the last four years in Cincinnati, Ohio living with her daughter, Sue. She attended St. John United Church of Christ in Reading, Ohio and made many new and dear friends.

Funeral services for Violet Hubster will be held at 10:00 a.m., E.D.T., on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at Fairmount Cemetery in Huntingburg. The Reverends’ Tori Front and Mark West will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 2:00-8:00 p.m., on Friday, October 25, 2013.
