Viola S. Burger, 94
Viola S. Burger, age 94 passed away at 10:05 a.m. Friday (June 29, 2012) in Memorial Hospital & Health Care Center in Jasper.
She was born in Jasper December 1, 1917, to Finton and Bertha (Burger) Schwenk. She married Sylvester Burger April 22, 1941. He preceded her in death on October 20, 1985.
She was a graduate of Ireland High School Class of 1935 and the first High School Basketball Queen at Ireland High School.
Viola had worked for J.W. Gossards in Huntingburg for many years.
She is a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church and the Ladies Sodality of Precious Blood – Daughters of Isabella – Oblates of St. Benedict of St. Meinrad – V.F.W. Auxiliary to post # 673. She was a recipient of the Dioceses of Evansville Brute Award.
She had a passion for quilting and enjoyed her ministry of quilting for Precious Blood church in Jasper as well as for her family.

- Kevin Burger and spouse Connie, Jasper, IN
Eight grandchildren and ten great grandchildren.
One sister, Mary Schnaus , Ireland, IN
One brother, Herbert “Boots” Schwenk, Ireland, IN
Preceding her in death besides her husband are two granddaughters, Sonia and Tonya. Also three brothers, Jerome, Rufus and Jim Schwenk .
Funeral services for Viola Burger will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday (July 3, 2012) in Precious Blood Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.
Friends may call from Noon to 8:00 p.m. Monday at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
Combined rosary will be held 2:00 p.m. by the Ladies Sodality of Precious Blood, D Of I’s and the Oblates of St. Benedict. Memorial service will be held at 6:00 p.m. by the V.F.W. Auxiliary.
Memorial contributions may be made to Precious Blood Catholic Church or to a favorite charity.
