Vincennes University student found dead on Knox County campus

A male student has passed away in Godare Residence Hall at Vincennes University, according to VU officials. The student, identified as Andrew Michael Coburn, 20, of Connersville, was found unresponsive by another student at 2:56 p.m. Saturday Jan. 21, in a residence hall room.

According to a preliminary report by Vincennes University Police, a medical condition is a possible cause of a student’s death,

Coburn was a freshman majoring in Culinary Arts.

VU President Dick Helton notified the student’s mother and issued this statement, “On behalf of the Vincennes University community, I express my deepest sympathy to the family and friends of Andrew Coburn.”

VU Police, Indiana State Police, and the Knox County Coroner are investigating.
