Victor F. Klem, 82

Victor F. Klem, 82, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 2:10 a.m., on Monday, January 12, 2015, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born in St. Anthony on July 25, 1932, to Joseph and Rose (Welp) Klem. He married Ruth H. Bieker on July 29, 1950 at St. Anthony Catholic Church in St. Anthony.

Mr. Klem and his wife operated Windell’s Restaurant in Dale for a number of years. Victor also worked at the Huntingburg Brick Yard, Huntingburg Wood Products, Hoosier Desk and Energy Supply. He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg. He loved to garden and spend time with his family and dogs; and was a fan of I.U. basketball and St. Louis Cardinal’s baseball.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth H. Klem, who passed away November 17, 2014; two infant daughters, Mary Elizabeth and Laura Rose Klem; one son-in-law, George Eichmiller; six brothers, Oscar who died in infancy, Raymond, Walter, Clarence, Arthur and Arnold Klem; and two sisters, Henrietta Ernst and Lucille Hopster.

Mr. Klem is survived by five sons and three daughter-in-laws, Victor (Ann) Klem Jr. of Mariah Hill, Richard (Sonia) Klem of Jasper, Theodore (Gayla) Klem of Jasper, Douglas Klem of Jasper and Lawrence Klem of Jasper; four daughters and three son-in-laws, Norma (Jeff) Padgett of Otwell, Corma (Gerald) Knebel of Jasper, Barbara Eichmiller of Jasper and Debra (Scott) Gehlhausen of Jasper; two brothers, Eugene Klem of St. Anthony and Alvin Klem of St. Anthony; (20) grandchildren; (26) great grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral services for Victor F. Klem will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, January 16, 2015, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Huntingburg with burial to follow at St. Anthony Cemetery in St. Anthony, Indiana. Reverend Fr. Ryan Hilderbrand will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Thursday.  A parish rosary prayer service will be held at 6:30 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.
