VFW Post 2366 Auxiliary meets
Post 2366 Auxiliary met on Monday Aug.8 at 7:30 pm at the Post Home. The meeting was opened by Pres. Laurie Spurlock. Membership Report was given by Janice Demott. The Hospital Committee reported that the Dance at the Waters sponsored by the Auxiliary will be Aug. 11th.
Dept. of Indiana Aux. President, Marie Seibert, presented Laurie Spurlock with her Yearbook that was entered to the State Convention. This yearbook is a scrapbook of activities that Pres. Laurie was involved in throughout the year of her last presidency. The yearbook was made by Shannon Werne and received an 8th place at the State Convention in July.
Dept. Pres. Marie reported on her monthly journey thoroughout the state and her tour of the Indiana Veterens Home in Lafayette, IN. She encouraged all who get the chance to visit and tour this facility to do so, it is well worth the time and very informative. Marie also reported that the District Meeting at Huntingburg Post will be Nov. 20th, 2011.
Pres. Laurie reported that the Traveling Veterans Wall will be in Evansville Sep. 1-5 and will be located at Franklin Ave and Wabash. It will be available 24 hrs.
Other business discussed were various programs to be held at the Post Home in the coming months:
Oct. 1st will be Ind. Dept. Auxiliary POW/MIA program starting at 7pm. Steak Dinners will be available at 5pm and a Dance with Starbound Band at 8pm. This event is open to the Public.
Nov. 12 will be a Flag Ettiquette Program for the Huntingburg Boy Scout Troop. Patty Leibering reported that things are coming together for this program sponsored by the Auxiliary. More information will come at a later date.
Plans for the Annual Labor Picnic at the Post Home were discussed. Fish Sandwiched will be offered the men, and the Auxiliary will have Chicken Dinners. Bingo will start at 1pm. Raffle tickets will be available.
