Veterans still being served at Dubois County Veterans Service Office

Dubois County veterans seeking assistance or information on VA claims can still visit or set up appointments at the Veterans Service Office during normal business hours, thanks to the volunteer efforts of several local veterans.

According to local veteran Daryl Hensley, Veterans Service Officer for DAV Chapter 77, they have six to eight veterans volunteering to assist and file claims.

The group is also reaching out to past applicants to see if they have any issues with their claims and claim status.

“We hope that if veterans have filed and been denied, or have not heard anything about their claim, they will contact us to ensure the claim is filed correctly or can be appealed,” said Hensley.

This will continue until a new service officer is hired and trained.

The officer is open Tuesdays through Fridays from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The number is 812-481-7090.
