In honor of veterans for Veteran’s Day the City of Jasper, Indiana Railway Museum, Jasper Chamber of Commerce, ROJAC and the Dubois County Veterans Council all combined efforts to provide free train rides to Dubois County Veterans on Veterans Day.

The rides were at 2:00, 3:30 and 5:30 p.m.  One veteran and a guest were allowed to ride for free.

The hour long round trip for the veterans had the Spirit of Jasper pushing the cars and then pulling them back. All three trips were filled and according to Chamber Executive Director Nancy Eckerle many were placed on a waiting list for the popular event.

Dennis Turrance is a member of the Railway Museum. He is watching for upcoming crossings to notify the engineer when to signal.
