Verona B. “Fronie” Prechtel, 95

Verona B. “Fronie” Prechtel, age 95, Schnellville, Indiana passed away at 12:00 a.m. Sunday (October 14, 2012) in Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

She was born at Schnellville, Indiana September 22, 1917 to Joseph F. and Anna (Fritz) Knust. She married Joseph Prechtel October 14, 1941 in Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville, Indiana. He preceded her in death March 1, 2000.

Verona retired from the former Wilsons Drug Store in Jasper where she had worked for over 30 years.

She is a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Schnellville and the St. Ann’s Society. Also a past member of the St. Vincent DePaul Society and a life member of the V.F.W. Auxiliary to Post # 673 in Jasper.

She and her late husband were avid dancers at the V.F.W. in Jasper and she also loved to play the accordion and piano.

One brother, Leo “Pud” Knust, Schnellville, IN

One sister, Josephine Kaelin, Crestwood, KY

Also nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband are three brothers, Edwin Knust , Albert Knust and Ted Knust, who died in infancy. Also two sisters; Clara Englert and Anna Mae Reh. Two half sisters, Theresia Bockelman and Margaret Schuch and three half brothers, Michael, Louis and Oscar Knust.

Funeral services for Verona Prechtel will be held at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday (October 17, 2012) in Sacred Heart Catholic Church with burial to follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Schnellville.

Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday (October 16, 2012) at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper and one hour before services at church.
