Vernon H. Welp, 80, Jasper

Vernon H. Welp, 80, of Jasper, passed away at 12:23 p.m. on Friday, March 23, 2018, at home.

Vernon was born on September 3, 1937, to August and Irma (Miller) Welp. He married Judy Harritt August 3, 1963, in St. Simon’s Catholic Church in Washington, Indiana.

Vernon was a 1955 graduate of Jasper High School. He was an insurance agent for Prudential for 32 years. He was a member of Precious Blood Catholic Church, the Jasper Outdoor Recreation and the Jasper K of C.

He enjoyed fishing, boating, traveling, and watching I.U. basketball.

He is survived by his wife, Judy Welp of Jasper; one daughter, Ann Clark and fiancé Kevin Horney, of Jasper; four sons, Mike Welp of Jasper, John (Lynn) Welp of Jasper, Rob (Qi) Welp of Rantoul, Ill. and Jim Welp of Jasper; 15 grandchildren.

A Mass of Christian Burial for Vernon H. Welp will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, March 28, 2018, at Precious Blood Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery in Jasper.

A visitation will be held from 2:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday, March 27, 2018, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana.
