Verla Flick, 90, Huntingburg,

Verla Flick, 90, of Huntingburg, formerly of French Lick, entered into eternal rest on May 14, 2023, at St. Charles Health Campus in Jasper.

She was born in Rural French Lick on October 10, 1932, to William Ray Flick and Mary Olive (Sutton) Flick.

Verla was preceded in death by her parents and was the last surviving of her generation on both sides and was also preceded in death by 23 first cousins.

She was a 1950 graduate of French Lick High School. She received a B.S. Degree in Business Education and Instrumental Music from Indiana State University in 1954, where she was a member of Alpha Sigma Alpha Sorority. Verla then furthered her education, receiving a Master’s Degree in Education from Indiana University. She taught Business Education for 37 years at the former Huntingburg High School and the present Southridge High School. Verla also accompanied many vocal students for contests. After retiring in 1991, she spent many hours as a volunteer tour guide for Indiana Landmarks at the West Baden Springs Hotel.

Verla was a lifelong member of the Springs Valley United Methodist Church, where she was the organist and pianist for many years and was active in the United Methodist Women’s Club. She then moved her membership to the Huntingburg United Methodist Church. She was also a member of the West Baden Research Club and the former Huntingburg Business Women’s Club.

She is survived by many cousins and special friends.

A Funeral Ceremony will be conducted by Rev. Linda Watson on Sunday, May 21, 2023, at 2:00 p.m. at Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Home, with burial to follow in Ames Chapel Cemetery.

Visitation for friends will be Sunday, May 21, 2023, from 1:00 p.m. until the time of service.
