-Jasper Mayor Terry Seitz and Building, Planning and Zoning Director Darla Blazey asked the Utility Service Board to assist in paying for the review and update of the zoning and subdivision control ordinance.
It is a very significant undertaking according to mayor and will require input from Jasper Utilities through the process due to the role of utilities in regards to new construction.
The mayor told the board the Jasper Board of Public Works had selected Indianapolis firms Planning Workshop and Ratio as a team to assist the city in the review and update of the ordinance. The board of works also capped the contract at $73,000.
The civil city had budgeted $40,000 for the comprehensive review based on rough figures provided from a local company during the budget proceedings last year. The mayor asked the Utility Service Board to assist by paying the difference between the civil city’s budget and the actual approved cost of $73,000 for the contract.
Utilities Manager Bud Hauersperger stated the utilities could assist in the project based on a formula that would determine how much each utility would pay.
Blazey requested that members of the board be on the study committee.
The board approved considering funding the remaining $33,000 for the zoning and subdivision control ordinance. They could make a final decision at the special meeting next Tuesday, September 24 at 11 a.m. at the council chambers.
-Hauersperger stated Morley and Associates had been out on Beaver Dam Lake surveying the water marks on docks around the lake and should be providing a formal report on the water levels at the lake in the next couple of weeks.
-USB Chairman Wayne Schuetter reported that the city had received a rejection to their settlement proposal to Healthy Dubois County. Read the story here.
