Upcoming veteran rally highlights opportunities and resources for servicemembers
The Dubois County Veteran’s Office is teaming up with Brothers for Veterans and the Indiana Department of Veterans Affairs to host a veteran rally to connect veterans with local resources.
The special event is set to take place at the National Guard Armory from 12 to 3 p.m. on Saturday, October 30, 2021.
“In the wake of the Afghanistan pull-out and anniversary of 9/11, it is important to remind veterans that resources are available to them if they are struggling,” said Gary Love, Dubois County Veteran Services Officer.
He added that the event will give veterans access and information on the federal and state benefits they have earned through their service.
“We like to say to those that are hesitant to apply or ask for help—you served, you deserve,” Love sad. “Don’t let anything get in the way of applying for something you earned.”
There will be several local veterans organizations in attendance at the event. They include VFW Posts 673 and 2366; American Legion Posts 147, 124, 493, 366 and 343; The Navy Club, The Southern Indiana Leathernecks, Forty and Eight, and the Legion Riders.
The following organizations will be present for the upcoming rally: VA Healthcare / Community Care; LifeSpring Health Systems; Vet2VET; Vincennes University-Jasper Center; University of Southern Indiana; Hometown Hiring; WorkOne; the Office of U.S. Senator Mike Braun
Organizers are calling on all Dubois County veterans to attend the rally to learn more about resources and benefits available to them as well as network with one another. The group hopes to build on the esprit de corps that bonds service members (veterans) with one another to build stronger networks for local veterans.
“If we can help one veteran I will call the Rally a success,” Love explained. “This is just one of many outreach events that I am planning to have throughout the year so, I hope to have many successes throughout the next 12 months.”
