Upcoming event – Golden Years: Fact or Fiction
The Dubois County Public Health Partnership’s 3rd annual program on September 18th at the Ferdinand Community Center will offer information and inspiration for adults to improve their physical, mental and social fitness.
Donna Oeding, Dubois County Health Department Administrative Director, noted that the program, targeting men and women, 50 and over, will feature speakers, a vendor fair, lunch and door prizes.
Topics will include “It Can Happen to You – The Latest on Scams” by Sergeant Chad Dick with the Indiana State Police”, “Safe Driving” presented by the Indiana State Police and Jessica Schultheis of Easter Seals, “Estate Planning” by attorney Gloria Rahman, and “Eat Right and Live Well” by Jan Dougan with Purdue Extension, Dubois County. Exercise demonstrations will be provided by Cheryl Denu of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. The keynote speaker this year will be Pat Evans from Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, whose topic will be “Going It Alone Isn’t Smart”.
Registration opens at 9 a.m. The day wraps up around 3 p.m. with door prizes.
“The goal of this annual program is to offer information to encourage individuals to make proactive choices as they age,” Oeding added. The committee is expecting a large turnout as over 200 people and 20 vendors attended last year’s event.
Registration is $10 and must be made in advance by calling the Arnold F. Habig Center by September 7th at 812-482-4455. Catering by Meyer will be serving lunch.
