Two people injured in single-vehicle crash

Friday, two people were injured when the pickup truck they were in went off State Road 162 down a steep embankment.

According to police, Nicholas Schepers, 25, Indianapolis, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet S-10 northbound on State Road 162 between Countrywood Estates and County Road 350 South about three miles south of Jasper when he crossed the center line. The truck continued off the road and down a steep embankment before stopping.

Schepers and his passenger, Paul Knies, 83, of Jasper, were taken to Memorial Hospital by ambulance.

The St. Anthony Fire Department, along with Memorial Hospital Emergency Medical Services, and Bergs Wrecker service assisted on the scene along with the Sheriff’s deputies. 

This incident is still under investigation.
