Two Jasper employees recognized for lifesaving actions

During Tuesday’s regular Board of Public Works and Safety meeting, Jasper Mayor Dean Vonderheide took a moment to recognize the lifesaving actions of two city employees.

On December 3, 2023, Park and Recreation employee Eric Schuetter was driving home when he saw an unresponsive woman in a front yard. Schuetter called 911 and started CPR until the ambulance arrived. The subject had suffered from a cardiac arrest but is now in recovery.

Vonderheide also recognized Jasper Police Officer Logan Jones, who, on January 13, 2024, administered CPR and utilized his AED on a subject who was not breathing and did not have a pulse at an apartment complex in Jasper. Because of Officer Jones’ quick response, the patient began breathing again on his own.

“I just want to thank you,” said Vonderhiede, presenting a certificate to each man.

Members of the Jasper Common Council were also in attendance for the presentation.
