Two drivers injured after vehicles flip in high-speed crash

Two drivers were injured and their cars totaled just after noon today following a high-speed crash near Duff.

According to police, Paxton A. Combs was westbound in a 2010 Chevrolet Colbalt following a 2008 Toyota Scion TC driven by Kelsey M. Hinton on Duff Road SE, just east of County Road 600 W. at about 12:13 p.m.

Both cars were traveling at a high rate of speed and Combs attempted to pass Hinton’s vehicle. When she finished the pass, she lost control of the Cobalt and ran off the north side of the road. Her vehicle flipped multiple times before stopping on its top.

Hinton’s vehicle also ran off the road north side of the road. She swerved to avoid Combs’ crashed car in front of her and her car went left of center. She overcorrected and the car began to spin and also went off the north side of the road. The vehicle then flipped over on its top.

Both drivers complained of pain.

Both cars were a total loss.

Combs was cited with improper passing and speed too fast to avoid a collision. Hinton was cited for speed too fast to avoid a collision.

Memorial Emergency Medical Services, Indiana State Police, and a KARS wrecker assisted at the scene.
