Truck convoy honors murdered Ferdinand man

A convoy of seven semi-tractor trailers drove through Ferdinand Friday morning honoring Michael Boeglin, who was slain in Detroit last month.
The trucks drove from North Industrial Road to I-64 through Ferdinand. Residents lined the streets and their waves were met with honks from the trucks from Ferdinand businesses, AT Transportation, Duckville Trucking, and Best Home Furnishings as well as OFS Brands and Classic Bulk Carriers of Huntingburg and Nancy Baer Trucking of Jasper.
Mike’s father-in-law, David Clark, organized the run with the help of the Ferdinand Police Department.
Boeglin was murdered June 26, while he was delivering aluminum coils to a steel plant owned by ThyssenKrupp located on Detroit’s west side. He parked near an abandoned sports complex overnight and was shot and the semi he was in was burned. According to a spokesperson at the Detroit Police Department, the investigators have not had any new leads since the incident occurred. They think the semi was burned to hide evidence of the crime.
They have asked that anyone with any information regarding the incident contact the Homicide Bureau at (313) 596-2260.
A fund has been established at German American Bank to assist Boeglin’s wife Ashley and his unborn child. Those interested in donating to it can inquire at any German American Bank location about the Michael Boeglin fund.
