Trenton James Stone, 15, Velpen

Trenton James Stone, 15, of Velpen, passed away on Wednesday, February 4, 2026, at his home.

He was born on December 8, 2010, in Jasper, Indiana, to Ivy Smith and Jesse James Andrew Stone.

Trenton was a freshman at Southridge High School, where he was actively involved in the football and wrestling teams and eagerly looking forward to playing baseball. He enjoyed riding four-wheelers, hunting, spending time playing in the woods, and playing video games. Trenton was a member of the Civil Air Patrol and dearly loved his dog, Ridge.

He also enjoyed attending Bible Club with Mike Austin, going to the movies with his papaw, swimming at the family lake, living-room wrestling matches with his cousins, and playing with cars.

He was preceded in death by his father, Jesse James Andrew Stone; two grandparents, Ann Stone and Ronald Hayes; and his great-grandpa, David Camp.

He is survived by his mother and bonus father, Ivy Smith and Tommy Ronald Hayes of Velpen; three siblings, Matt Hayes of Velpen, Tommy Hayes Jr. of Florida and Keirce Hayes of Velpen; grandparents, Michael R. Smith of Arthur Junction, Tracy and Eric Evans of Velpen and Darlene Hayes of Feds Creek, Kentucky; great-grandmother, Judy Camp of Velpen; uncles, Jesse (Megan) Smith and Jed Evans; aunts, Cheyanne Stone and Taylor Evans; and cousins, Jaydan, Ryder, Brynleigh and Brixton Smith, Trinitey Noland, Jax and Jayden Mills.

A funeral service for Trenton James Stone will be held at 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Central Christian Church, 903 South Main Street, Huntingburg, Indiana 47542. A meal will be provided after the service, giving family and friends an opportunity to continue celebrating Trenton’s life and share memories. A private burial will take place at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Velpen.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, prior to the service at the church.

Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
