Tony Hayden Ashby, 71, Santa Claus
Tony Hayden Ashby, 71, of Santa Claus, passed away stubbornly in his home, with his family by his side.

Tony was born on May 25, 1955, in Evansville, Indiana, to Donald Ashby and Dorothy Baldwin Winn, both of whom preceded him in death.
He proudly served in the United States Army.
He is survived by his daughter, Randi Hebner (Ashby) of Boonville; his grandson, Atlas Hebner, who brought him great pride and joy. Also a brother and sister-in-law, Glenn and Danette Winn and their children.
Known for his easygoing nature, immaculate home and yard keeping, and a great sense of humor, he was the kind of person who made everyone feel welcome. Be it through stories and laughter or elbow grease, every person and project ended up ‘better than it was.’ Including stray cats.
An avid golfer, Tony found great enjoyment on the golf course, though his enjoyment was often measured by the score. He treasured the friendships and memories made there over the years. Tony appreciated life’s simple pleasures and would be the first to tell you he had a good life.
While the last several years brought significant health challenges and pain, Tony faced them with more strength and resilience than any one person should have. Those who loved him take comfort in knowing that he is now at rest and free from pain.
Special thanks are also extended to Dona Ashby and the staff of Heart to Heart Hospice for the compassion, dignity, and comfort they provided during Tony’s final days.
Tony will be remembered for his kindness, his sense of humor, his love of conversation, and the friendships he built throughout his life. To know him was to love him.
A private family remembrance will be held at a later date. Rainey Funeral Home in Dale has been entrusted with handling the arrangements.
