Thyen-Clark Cultural Center opening stalled

The public will have to wait a bit longer to enjoy the new cultural center in Jasper.

Jasper Community Arts and the Jasper Public Library continue to work to bring the Thyen-Clark Cultural Center closer to completion. However, while the building is mostly complete, it is not quite ready for the public, according to Jasper Community Arts Director Kyle Rupert and Jasper Public Library Director Christine Golden.

“The building is looking great so far. Everything is coming together,” said Rupert. “We want to welcome the public as soon as possible, but we want to make sure everything is ready and any loose ends are tied up before we do.”

Golden added that she and Rupert appreciate everyone’s patience as the building nears completion.

“We’ve been working on this project for years and are just as excited to see it open as everyone else, if not more so,” she said.

Both organizations will continue communicating to the public through the press and their social media channels as more details about the building’s opening become available.

Jasper Community Arts does plan to make the first set of exhibits available for viewing online beginning January 7, barring any unforeseen delays. The arts department, like other city departments, is closed to the public through January 18.
