Thurman H. “J.R.” Lancaster, Jr., 75, Ferdinand

Thurman H. “J.R.” Lancaster, Jr., 75, of Ferdinand, formerly of French Lick, entered into eternal rest on June 18, 2021, at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center in Jasper.

He was born in Springfield, Ohio on August 26th, 1945 to Thurman H. Lancaster, Sr. and Myrtle (Brown) Ashcraft.

He was a graduate of Woodford High School in Versailles, Kentucky, had worked as a truck driver and retired from Towne Air Freight, and White’s Service.

J.R. was an avid fisherman and loved spending time with his granddaughters.

J.R. was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Jack Lancaster; son, Bill Lancaster.

He is survived by four sons, Lewis Lancaster (Jennifer) of Munford, Ala., Richie Lancaster (Rachel) of Jasper, Ala., John McEwen (Ashley) of Ferdinand, and Jason Lancaster of Huntingburg; one sister, Rosemary Shuck of Versailles, Ky.; two granddaughters, Stella and Madisyn.

Cremation was chosen and a private service will be held at a later date.

Arrangements are in the care of Brosmer-Kemple Funeral Service in French Lick, Indiana 47432.
