Three-vehicle crash sends man to hospital
A three-vehicle crash near the entrance of the closed Pizza Hut in Jasper sent a Petersburg man to the hospital with complaints of chest pain.
According to Jasper police, Ray Stillwell, 89, of Petersburg, was southbound in a 2011 Cadillac on Hoffman Road when he stopped at the intersection of U.S. 231 across from Pizza Hut. He failed to see an approaching southbound 2007 Chevrolet Silverado driven by Jaden Schuetter, 16, of Huntingburg. When he pulled out, Stillwell’s Cadillac struck the passenger side of the truck as it passed the intersection.
The collision caused the Silverado’s rear driver’s side to collide with the front of a stopped 2021 Toyota Tacoma driven by April Foll, 47, of Velpen, who was waiting to turn left onto Hoffman Road from the northbound lane of U.S. 231.
Stillwell complained of chest pain and was taken to Memorial Hospital.
Police estimate the Silverado had about $2,000 in damages and the other two vehicles were totaled.
Stillwell was cited for failing to yield the right-of-way.
