Three taken to hospital after crash on State Road 56

Three people were taken to the hospital early Sunday morning after the car they were in went off State Road 56 and rolled several times

Lindsey Quinn, 27, of Dubois, told police she was driving a 2006 Ford Focus westbound on SR 56 at about 1 a.m. when she overcorrected around a curve just west of County Road 325 E. The car went airborne down an embankment and hit the ground in an empty cornfield. The car then rolled several times before coming to rest on its side in the field.

Quinn complained of head pain; a juvenile passenger complained of back pain; and a passenger, Shannon Evans, complained of back and neck pain. The three were taken by ambulance to Memorial Hospital.

According to police, none of the occupants were wearing seat belts which contributed to their injuries.

Police also stated that cell phone usage and speeding were likely factors in the crash.

The car had about $5,000 in damages.

Haysville Volunteer Fire Department and a Ruxer Ford wrecker assisted at the scene.
