Three Huntingburg sirens out of service; Be sure you have multiple ways to receive weather alerts

During a recent upgrade to the county’s tornado siren communication system, it was discovered that our current radios are outdated and no longer compatible. Because of this, three of our city’s tornado sirens are temporarily out of service until replacement radios arrive.

This was an unforeseen issue, and we’re actively working on a solution — but at this time, we don’t have an exact timeline for when the sirens will be back online.

Important Reminder:

Tornado sirens are meant to warn people who are outdoors, not those inside homes or buildings. Please make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts, such as NOAA weather radios, emergency text alerts, or weather apps.

With chances of severe weather expected this weekend, now is the time to prepare.
