Thomas E. Hohler, 86, Ireland

Thomas E. Hohler, 86, of Ireland, passed away at 5:52 p.m. on Friday, July 22, 2016, at Brookside Village in Jasper.
Thomas was born in Ireland Indiana on December 4, 1929 to Robert and Anna (Mehringer) Hohler.
He worked for Phillips 66 and Sunoco Bulk Plants for 52 years.
He was a U. S. Army veteran who served during the Korean War, and was a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673 and the American Legion Post #147.
He was a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana and the Jasper Knights of Columbus.
He was the statistician for the Ireland Spuds and served as the Mayor of Ireland for a day.
He enjoyed reading, listening to big band music, playing cards, and participating in good conversation.
He is survived by cousins, Betty Schwinghamer of St. Henry, Charles Mehringer and wife Bob Ann, Conn., Frances Stamm and husband John of Jasper, Gene Mehringer and wife Dianne of Ireland, Helen Giesler and husband Edward of Ireland, Margie Jahn of Jasper, Kenneth Mehringer and wife Betty of Ireland and Linda Underhill and husband Johnny of Bristow.
Preceding him in death were his parents.
Funeral services for Thomas E. Hohler will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, July 27, 2016, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ireland, Indiana with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The American Legion Post #147 will conduct military gravesite rites.
Friends may call from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, July 26, 2016, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
