Thomas E. Foisy, 81

Thomas E. Foisy, 81, of Jasper, Indiana, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Monday (October 12, 2015) at home.
Tom was born on July 30, 1934 in Lorain, Ohio to George and Georgene (Craft) Foisy. He married Linda DeLuca on January 12, 1957 in Lorain, Ohio.
Thomas served in the US Navy for two years of active duty and eight years of reserve service.
Tom retired from the city of Jasper Park and Rec. Department where he drove the OATS van, mowed, and did other duties. Tom worked for 7-up Company for many years. He managed the distribution plant in Jasper, Indiana, where he received recognition for top sales. Tom enjoyed being a substitute teacher at Precious Blood Catholic School. He also enjoyed working for the Census Bureau.
Tom was very active in St. Joseph’s Catholic church, where he was a member, was Parish Council President, a Eucharistic Minister, and sang in the choir. He also taught religious Education for many years at Jasper and Fort Wayne, Indiana. Tom was involved in the Cursillo and CRHP programs. He was also a member of St. Jude Parish in Fort Wayne, Indiana, and St. Mary’s Parish in Lorain, Ohio, from where he graduated.
He was a charter and lifetime member of the Jasper Optimist Club, where he was president from 1983-1984 and served as Lt. Governor of the zone in subsequent years. He led the oratorical contest and respect for law program. Tom was a member of the Knights of Columbus, in Ireland, Indiana. Tom was involved in other clubs and organizations in the community.
He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren. He also enjoyed spending time with his friends, boating, motorcycles, and singing, especially with his brothers.
He is survived by his wife, Linda Foisy of Jasper; four daughters, Paula Foisy of Jasper, Kathy Himsel and her husband Edward of Jasper, Patty Petry of Rockport and Lisa Nelson and her husband Kenny of Irvington, Ky.; two sons, Tom A. Foisy and his wife Elwanda of Ft. Wayne and Gary Foisy of Dubois; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; two sisters, Marian Schnitzler and her husband Bob of San Juan Capistrano, Cali. and Joanne Farr of Wellington, Ohio; three brothers, Dave Foisy and his wife Donna of Lorain, Ohio, Ken Foisy and his wife Mary Lou of Vermillion, Ohio and Gerald Foisy and his wife Jeanne of San Jose, Cali.
Preceding him in death are one granddaughter, Nina Marie Himsel, one sister, Helen Witmer, three brothers, John, Ray, and Bob Foisy, and a brother-in-law, Dwight Farr.
A Memorial Mass will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, October 17, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper. The V.F.W. #673 will conduct military rites.
Becher-Kluesner Funeral Home in Jasper is in charge of arrangements.
