Third Crossroads event to explore how food sparks new life in communities

Jasper Community Arts, as part of a collaboration with the Jasper Public Library and Dubois County Museum, is hosting a special program as part of the Crossroads: Change in Rural America initiative featuring five local events.

“Food for Thought – There and Gone and Back Again” is a conversation sparked by the creative and culinary arts. It will take place on Tuesday, November 12, 6:30 p.m. at the Parklands Pavilion, 800 W 15th St., Jasper.

This will be the third of five events to take place in our community as part of Crossroads.

Author and journalist David Hoppe will be exploring themes of how creative entrepreneurs are using Indiana food and agricultural heritage to spark new life in communities today.

David’s book, Food for Thought: An Indiana Harvest, features regional food entrepreneurs, Alan Hanselman – Schnitzelbank Restaurant, Dave Fischer – Fischer Farms, and the Sisters of Saint Benedict – Simply Divine Bakery.

This event is free and open to the public. Anyone interested in attending are encouraged to reserve seats by visiting jasperarts.corsizio.com or by calling the Jasper Arts Center at 812-482-3070.

Indiana Humanities is sponsoring the Crossroads events in Jasper as part of a grant program encouraging Hoosiers to explore how we relate to each other across urban, suburban, and rural lines and spark conversations about our futures.

Indiana Humanities connects people, opens minds and enriches lives by creating and facilitating programs that encourage Hoosiers to think, read and talk. Learn more at http://www.indianahumanities.org.
