The Parklands to close for controlled burn this Friday

The Jasper Park and Recreation Department will close The Parklands for a controlled burn of certain areas this Friday from 1 to 2 p.m.

This burn will encompass only one acre of The Parklands, which is 75 acres in total.  Parkgoers are asked to remove their vehicles and vacate the premises no later than 1:00 p.m. for preparations to begin. All entrances, including vehicular and walking, will remain closed after the fire until further notice.

After the burn is complete, the Jasper Park and Recreation Facebook page will provide updates on reopening. Barricades at the parking areas will be removed once the area has reopened.

Here is a story we did on the project.
