The Democratic Party will hold a caucus to fill the vacant seat on the County Council
An announcement from the Dubois County Democratic Party was made regarding the replacement of Councilman Scott Knies.
According to Gary Eck, Dubois County Democratic Party Central Committee Chairman, the Precinct Democratic Chairpersons will caucus on September 20 to make selections.

The affected townships are Columbia, Hall, Jefferson, Jackson, and Ferdinand. There are 9 precincts in these townships, and these are the only precincts (in the county) that will be involved with the caucus.
Candidates must provide Eck with a Declaration of Candidacy by 6:30 PM on September 17 (72 hours before the caucus.) He has already received one Declaration.
The rules of the caucus will be adopted on the evening of the caucus; items such as the length of speeches, method of voting, and what to do if no candidate gets a majority on the first ballot are covered in these rules.
The only thing that is required by the state is that the replacement must be elected by a majority, and that the county chairman breaks ties.
The Democratic Party has a meeting this evening at 6:30 p.m. at the Jasper American Legion Post in which this will be discussed.
