Thacker to run for Southwest Dubois School Board seat

Jennifer Thacker announced she will run for the Southwest Dubois County School Board District 1 seat in the upcoming election.
District 1 covers precincts 1, 2 and 3 in Patoka Township.
Thacker is a lifelong resident of Huntingburg and a graduate of Southridge High School. She worked at Huntingburg Elementary School for four years in the special needs department.
Prior to working at the elementary school, she was a service representative for Freedom Bank in both the Huntingburg and Jasper locations.
Thacker is an active member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, where she co-directs the Youth Praise Choir and is a Rights of Christian Initiation of Adults instructor.
She is now working as the office representative for her husband Jason’s business, Jason Thacker Construction, LLC.
Thacker continues to be an active member of the Huntingburg Elementary PTO and is a graduate of the Dubois County Leadership Academy.
She credits her time working at the school as inspiration to run for the position.
“My experience in working closely with the students, parents, staff and teachers over the past five years, as well as having a student in the corporation, has motivated me to become more involved in the success of our schools,” she said. “Becoming a school board candidate allows me to take advantage of the leadership and communications skills I have developed through my work and my active role in the community.”
Jennifer and Jason have a 9-year-old son, Brock, who is a fourth-grader at Huntingburg Elementary School.
Thacker will face incumbent Mike Broeker in the November election.
