Tell City municipal truck recovered and Jasper man arrested
A Jasper man was arrested Tuesday after police stopped a truck that was believed to have been stolen from Tell City.
Police were on the lookout for a white Ford pickup reported stolen from Tell City at about 9 a.m. According to police, a Tell City municipal employee went into a law office for some paperwork and when the returned to his vehicle, it was gone.
A statewide dispatch about the stolen truck went out at about 11:18 a.m.
While on patrol, a Jasper officer was eastbound on Cathy Lane at about 12:43 p.m. and noticed a white Ford Ranger matching the description of the stolen truck traveling westbound.
Officers followed the truck to the 2300 block of Cathy Lane where they initiated a stop after verifying it was the correct vehicle. The driver was identified as Andrew Bowman, 26, of Hillside Drive, and taken into custody without incident.
Bowman is charged with a Level 6 felony county of possession of a stolen vehicle.
