Sylvia A. Borrell, 84

Sylvia A. Borrell, 84, of Jasper, passed away at 3:20 a.m. on Wednesday, July 1, 2015, at Northwood Retirement Community in Jasper.

Sylvia was born in Jasper, Indiana on May 5, 1931 to Ben and Ardella (Schwartz) Hagen. She married John R. Borrell on November 25, 1948. He preceded her in death on July 28, 1998.

She was a homemaker and member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, the Jasper D of I, the St. Ann’s Society, the Women of the Jasper Moose and the Eagles of Huntingburg. She enjoyed making chili and she liked to play bingo, Rum and Cinch. She also enjoyed going on family outings.

She is survived by one daughter, Bobby Borrell of Jasper; one sister, Betty Heowener of Petersburg; three nieces and caretakers, Becky Reuber and her husband Joe of Jasper, Sandy Kalb of Dubois and Julie Harkness and her husband Rick of Santa Claus; several great nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death besides her husband is one brother, Buddy Hagen.

Funeral services for Sylvia A. Borrell will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Jasper, with burial to follow in Fairview Cemetery.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 6, 2015, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper, Indiana. The D of I and St. Ann’s Society will pray a rosary at 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home. The Moose will have a service at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home as well.

Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph Catholic Church, the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center or a favorite charity.
