Susie B. Kemp, 85, of Huntingburg, Indiana, passed away at 10:35 a.m., Sunday, October 12, 2014 at Brookside Village in Jasper.

She was born February 7, 1929 in Eckerty, Indiana, to John and Nora (Graves) Polen.

Susie married Don Kemp in February, 1951 in French Lick, Indiana.

She was a member of the First Pentecostal Church in Birdseye and was a minister and musician. She enjoyed playing the piano and singing at church and was the accordion player on the WITZ radio program for Rev. Johnny Buford. Susie worked as a substitute school teacher and was a volunteer worker at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Memorial Hospital, St. Mary’s of Evansville Hospital, and the Owensboro Daviess County Hospital.  She also volunteered for many years for the American Red Cross.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Don Kemp, who passed away May 10, 1986; two brothers, Omer and Otto Polen; one sister, Naomi Phillips; and two half brothers, Robert Polen and Jackie Worman.

She is survived by one daughter, Diana (Bill) Lueken of Jasper; one sister, Leona Naney of Fenton, Mich.; by one granddaughter, Kristy and Tony Kramer of Huntingburg; two great grandsons, Caleb and Caden Kramer, both at home.

Funeral services for Susie Kemp will be held at 11:00 a.m., EST on Wednesday, October 15, 2014 at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg with burial to follow at the Birdseye Cemetery in Birdseye, IN.  Pastor Bret Eckert and Pastor Patty Rottet will officiate at the services.

Friends may call for visitation at the Nass & Son Funeral Home in Huntingburg from 5:00–8:00 p.m., EST on Tuesday.
