Susan Elizabeth Bellinger Bucko, 76, Greenwood, Ind.

Susan Elizabeth Bellinger Bucko, 76, passed away at home on December 16, 2024, after an extended illness.

Susan graduated from Huntingburg High School in 1966 as a “Happy Hunter”.

She was a proud graduate of Purdue University where she earned her BS in Elementary Education in 1970. She received her Masters in Education from Butler University in 1974 and a Library Endorsement from Butler University in 1986.

She was an elementary teacher at Northeast Grade School in Greenwood, and later at Homecroft Elementary in Indianapolis, and then as Media Specialist at Clinton Young Elementary.

She was a majorette in the Purdue University All-American Marching Band where she met her husband.

Susan directed children’s choirs at Salem United Church of Christ in Huntinburg while still in high school. She developed a children’s music program for 12 years at Southport Presbyterian Church with 150 children in three choirs.

Her passions in life were God, her children, grandchildren, Purdue sports, reading, and listening to the music and attending performances of The Statler Brothers and SNOW!

Susan has now been reunited with her two sons, Mark Allan Bucko and David Allan Bucko, and both parents who preceded her in death.

Susan is survived by her husband of 54 years, James H. Bucko of Greenwood; daughter, Anne E. Bucko of Ellettsville; grandson, David A Bucko, Jr.; granddaughter, Victoria Beaupre (Travis Chitwood); great-granddaughter, Elliana Mae Chitwood; and adopted daughter-in-law, Kristie Briner; and adopted granddaughter, Codie Briner.

Visitation will take place on December 27, 2024 from 3 to 8 p.m. at G.H. Herrmann Funeral Home, located at 1605 South SR 135 in Greenwood.
A celebration of life will be held on December 28, 2024 at 11 a.m. at Center Grove Church located at 2340 South SR 135. Private internment to follow.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Purdue University All-American Marching Band.
