Founding member and outgoing Vice-President Mary Lou Schmitt has become an advisory board member.

As new board member, Nicole Schnell has completed training to facilitate a support group. Her responsibilities will be to foster communication, maintain record keeping and minutes for SOSDC. All board members are suicide loss survivors.

Janet Schnell recently became American Association of Suicidology Certified Psychological Autopsy Investigator (PAI). She follows a procedure for investigating a person’s death by reconstructing what the person thought, felt and did before death based on information gathered from personal documents, police reports, medical and coroner’s records, and face-to-face interviews with families, friends, and others who had contact with the person before the death.

Survivors of Suicide of Dubois County meetings are held the second Monday of every month from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. at Trinity United Church of Christ, 310 West 8th Street, Jasper. Please enter through the North door.

Meetings are open to family members and friends who have lost a loved one from a suicide death. SOSDC offers books, videos, and newsletters on suicide prevention and postvention. For more information contact Janet Schnell at 812-630-6779.
