Sultan’s Run raises $10k for Night to Shine

Trejan Morrison watched as his shot approached the cup on the seventh hole at Sultan’s Run. He was golfing with Bryce Morrison, Josh Morrison, and Adam Brames, sponsored by Dad Water, in a scramble hosted by the course to raise funds supporting Night to Shine, the annual prom hosted by Redemption Christian Church for individuals with special needs throughout the region.

Last Friday, Sultan’s Run hosted a corporate golf scramble that included a luncheon and concert to support Night to Shine.

With the support of multiple sponsors and 76 golfers, the day’s activities raised $10,250 for the annual event, a prom-like experience for individuals with special needs, hosted by Redemption Christian Church.

According to Chris Tretter, managing co-owner of Sultan’s, the fundraiser allows Redemption to utilize funding that would usually support Night to Shine to support other missions.

Chris Tretter gives some remarks before sending the teams off for the start of the scramble on Thursday.

“I felt this would be a good opportunity,” Tretter said about the scramble. “We will likely do this every other year, and we are having another event this fall.”

Night to Shine is a meaningful event for many people throughout the region. In addition to the hundreds of participants, hundreds of volunteers and buddies accompany the kings and queens through the fun evening.

Multiple corporate sponsors backed the fundraising organized by Sultan’s Run.

“The community, like they always do, has really stepped up,” Tretter said.

According to Jasper Campus Minister Doug Stephenson, the money raised by Thursday’s is very impactful.

“Everything raised will go directly to support Night to Shine,” Stephenson said, adding that with the golf event planned for later this year as well as the local sponsors that support it annually, the event should be fully funded for 2026 and 2027

“It’s great to see the community stepping up to help some individuals in our community that sometimes get overlooked,” he said.
