Suicide Prevention Conference this Friday; Sheriff Donny Lampert to be recognized for prevention efforts

The 3rd Annual Indiana Suicide Prevention Conference will be held at the University of Indiana in Evansville.

Join Indiana Suicide Prevention Network Advisory Council, Suicide Prevention Coalition, Dubois County Suicide Prevention Coalition and Survivors of Suicide of Dubois County this Friday, August 4, 2017, for an educational conference on many aspects of suicide prevention. One of our key note speakers this year will be Frank Campbell, PhD, LCSW. Dr. Campbell is the developer and nationally known speaker on the concept of LOSS Teams. LOSS Teams are groups of people who have been trained to assist those left behind by a loved one’s death by suicide.

An additional keynote speaker is Megan Chesin, PhD. Dr. Chesin will speak on evidence-based practices to prevent suicide. There will also be nine breakout sessions on various topics regarding suicidality.

Sheriff Donny Lampert will be honored with a Law Enforcement award for his leadership in suicide prevention, intervention and after a suicide occurs. Below is Donny’s bio:

Sheriff Donny Lampert graduated from Northeast Dubois 1982, Active Duty Air force 1984-1988, received an Associate’s Degree in Industrial Security from the Community College of the Air Force – Security Police Honor Graduate, SWAT team Member, Missile Combat Competition Team Member, Honor Guard, Jailer Academy, Indiana Law Enforcement Academy, D.A.R.E. Instructor, Crisis Negotiations, Critical Incident Stress Debriefing, Raid Entry, First Line Supervision, Crime Scene Investigation, Domestic Violence. He has been trained in Air Base Ground Defense, Dignitary and Nuclear Escorts, Military Operations, and Non-Commissioned Officer Training. In 2011 Sheriff Lampert was elected to serve Dubois County as sheriff. He was elected again in 2015. During his time as sheriff, Lampert has been actively engaged in suicide prevention activities, Dubois County Suicide Prevention Coalition and encourages mental wellness at work and in the community.
