Street restrictions announced ahead of annual Jasper Marching Band contest
The annual ISSMA Marching Band Contest, hosted by the Jasper Marching Wildcat Band, will take place next Saturday, September 30, 2023, at Alumni Field in Jasper. This year’s competition will feature an impressive 30 bands from across the region.
Local band performance times are as follows:
- Pike Central 11:13 a.m.
- Northeast Dubois 12:31 p.m.
- Heritage Hills 12:57 p.m.
- Forest Park 6:00 p.m.
- Huntingburg 7:30 p.m.
- Jasper 8:15 p.m.
This contest will bring a significant influx of visitors to the area. Please help us in welcoming all to Jasper.
Due to the ISSMA High School Marching Band Competition at Alumni Stadium on Saturday, September 30, 2023, the Jasper Board of Public Works has authorized the Jasper Police Department to close or restrict thru traffic from 7:30 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. that day. The following streets will be impacted: Second Street from east of Hometown IGA to Clay Street will be closed to the general public; Rolen Drive from 5th Street to behind the school will be restricted to handicapped-accessible parking only (There will be NO RESTRICTIONS to 5th Street traffic); Second Street will be used for School Bus and Equipment Vehicle Parking and will provide pedestrian cross-traffic.
Schroeder Sports Complex will be closed to the general public. No parking will be permitted overnight Friday through reopening time on Saturday evening. Schroeder Sports Complex parking lots will be used for School Bus and Equipment Vehicle parking. The south soccer fields will be used by the band for physical warm-up and marching preparation. The Jasper Street Department and the Jasper Parks Department campuses will be closed to the general public. This area will be used by bands for music warm-ups.
