Steven Wayne Henson, 67,

Steven Wayne Henson, 67, went to his forever home on February 20, 2025.

He was born in Washington, Ind., to Daniel J. and Shirley (Wallace) Henson on September 7, 1957, on his mother’s 21st birthday.

Steve found the love of his life while cashing his paychecks at Citizen’s State Bank in Petersburg. Steve and Lori Robertson were married on September 4, 1981. Quickly to follow were Benjamin Wayne, Rachel Lynne and Caleb Charles.

Steven was employed at IPL where he was a maintenance team leader, Unit 3, from May 16, 1977-Sept 1, 2017 and was enjoying his retired life. He attended Vincennes University and graduated in 1977 with an associate’s degree in electronics.

He was an avid outdoorsman. He was known to say he felt closest to God in the woods. He loved hunting, mainly deer and morels.

Steve and Lori enjoyed flowers and gardening and spent many hours canning. He loved traveling, camping and hiking with Lori as well.

He spent many years coaching his kids in various sports and hundreds of hours involved in Pike County 4H. He went on many mission trips to Haiti and Montana and enjoyed volunteering at Somebody’s Place and with the Optimist Club. He was always ready to lend a hand, being a Good Samaritan or helping a friend or family member with any project.

Steve will be remembered most for his hard-working demeanor and his love for his family. Although his children were responsible for his gray hairs and were told no often, he ran out of no’s by the time his grandchildren showed up.  He could never refuse pushing them on a swing or taking them for a ride around the yard.  He was a man of integrity and strong will.

His soul now resides in Heaven but his memories remain with those of us blessed enough to have had him in our lives.

Steven is survived by his faithful wife of 43 years, Lori. cherished children; Ben (Melissa) Henson, Rachel (Nickolas) Cook, and Caleb Henson; beloved grandchildren, Madlyn Robling, Haley Cook, Kara and Augustus Henson; siblings, David (Clara) Henson, Donna (Tom) Ordway, and Doug (Annita) Henson; many adored nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and infant sister, Debbie.
