Steven L. Matthews, 67

Steven L. Matthews, age 67 of Jasper, IN, passed away at 9:39 p.m. on Tuesday, April 1, 2014, at the Waters of Huntingburg, in Huntingburg, Indiana.

Steven was born on May 11, 1946 in Spurgeon, Indiana to Hilbert and Imogene (Houchin) Matthews. He married Barbara Marcum on August 24, 2003 in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

Steven worked for Indiana Furniture from which he retired.

He enjoyed playing golf, basketball, bowling, softball, and also spending time with his grandchildren.

Steven is survived by his wife, Barbara Matthews, of Jasper; three daughters, Donna Anderson and her partner Jane Hasenour, of Jasper, Lori Cronin and her husband Curt, of Celestine and Mary Schepers and her husband Jeremy, of Dubois; seven sons, Rodney Matthews, Indiana, Jason Matthews, Naples, Fla., David Anderson and his wife Tara, of Dubois, Skip Anderson, Indiana, Mike Marcum and his wife Sara, Patricks AFB, Fla., Tracy Marcum and his wife Jessica, of Fairmount, Ind., and David Marcum and his partner Jami Ferguson, of Huntingburg; 26 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; four sisters, Janie Thomas, of Newburgh, Joyce Fox and her husband Brent, of Petersburg, Vonda Vaughn, of Winslow, and Rose Self and her husband Jim, of French Lick; one brother,Roger Matthews and his wife Tina, of Otwell.

Preceding him in death are two brothers, Hubert Matthews who died in infancy and Dave Matthews.

Funeral services for Steven Matthews will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 4, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper, with burial to follow in Shiloh Cemetery in Ireland, IN. The pastor Terry Beadles and William Covey will officiate.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Thursday, April 3, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner North Chapel in Jasper.
