Steven J. Terwiske, 63, of Jasper Indiana, passed away at 10:45 p.m. on Tuesday, December 16, 2014, at his brother’s home in Jasper of cancer.

Steven was born on September 14, 1951 in Jasper, Indiana to James and Dorothy (Steffen) Terwiske.

He retired as a Master Sergeant from the U.S. Army, serving in over 13 countries throughout his career with the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army. He also worked at A.K. Steel for 10 years after his retirement from the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Jasper VFW Post #673. He enjoyed reading, studying of war history, traveling and playing chess.

He is survived by four sisters, Karin Malone of Oaktown, Ind., Sarah Wigand and her husband, Simon, of Jasper, Deb Chamberlain and her husband, Charles, of Fischers, and Nancy Cannon of Jasper; three brothers, Mike Terwiske and his wife, Kate, of Utah, Pat Terwiske and his wife, Joyce, of Richmond, and Thomas Terwiske and his wife, Rose, of Jasper; nieces and nephews.

Preceding him in death beside his parents is one niece Shannon Terwiske.

Military gravesite rites and burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 20, 2014, at Fairview Cemetery in Jasper Indiana. The VFW Post #673 will conduct military gravesite rites.

Friends may call from 2:00-8:00 p.m. on Friday, December 19, 2014, at the Becher-Kluesner Downtown Chapel in Jasper.
