Steven Allen Fuhs, 68, of Birdseye, passed away at 7:00 p.m. CST, Friday, June 18, 2021, in the Palliative Care Unit, Vanderbilt University Medical Center, Nashville, Tenn.

Steve was born in Jasper on January 4, 1953, to Alphonse and Francis (Oser) Fuhs.

Steve was a rural mail carrier with the Birdseye Post Office. He was an avid coon and squirrel hunter and loved working with his dogs. He was a Dr. Doolittle and loved his chickens and interactions with other wildlife. He enjoyed socializing with his like-minded friends and playing Euchre. One joy was experiencing new foods.

As one friend and mentor said, “He was the real deal.”

He is survived by his wife, Lynn (Richards), formerly of North Aurora, Ill.; son, Steven (Jenny) ofJasper; daughter, Staci (Jarrod) Land of Jasper; the following loved ones, Carl Quinn, Michigan, Melvina (Curt) Reynolds, of Freedom, Ind.; Debra Wyatt, Greencastle; four adored grandchildren, Tyler Lashbrook, Travis, Olivia, and Brandon Fuhs, all of Jasper.

Preceding him in death were his parents, Alphonse and Francis Fuhs; his loved ones, Melvin Eugene Quinn, Shoals, Maxine (Ragains) Coomer of French Lick, Jeannie Quinn, and his precious granddaughter, Kiersten Land.

A Celebration of Life will be held at 3 p.m. on July 11, 2021, at the Birdseye Conservation Club, 9605 E Conservation Club Road, Birdseye, IN 47513. A meal will be provided with soft drinks.
